BRAC STRONG-IT Project
Adaptation and Skill Advancement for a Pandemic Reality
CONTEXT
BRAC is the largest NGO of the world. The objective of the BRAC-funded pilot project “STRONG-IT” was to provide online training to 850 young people in Bangladesh and enhance their IT skills, in order to adapt to the new-normal world during COVID.
CHALLENGES
- Difficulties in maintaining student engagement and motivation
- Challenges in providing feedback without face-to-face interaction
- Adapting to new technologies for instructors and learners
- Lack of appropriate training materials and resources for online learning
CODERSTRUST SOLUTION
- Provided additional training and support to learners to adapt them to new technologies and tools for digital literacy
- Applied interactive sessions and collaborative techniques to ensure engagement and motivation among learners
- Kept learners on track making progress through regular communication, Q&A sessions
- Developed appropriate digital learning materials and resources that are accessible, interactive, and engaging, which helped learners understand better
RESULTS
Graduated Trainees: 850
Successful Job Placement: 476
- Successful job placement during the course itself 20.85%
- 56% of them secured employment in different national and international marketplace and doing full time jobs.
- Despite the lockdowns and social distancing measures in place during COVID-19, there have been great positive impacts on household income
- Freelancing provided hope for our learners during the COVID-19 pandemic
