Intern, Web Developer (WordPress)

Your Role and Responsibilities
We are seeking an intern web developer who is well-versed in PHP as well as the WordPress backend. You will help the development team build dynamic and useful websites using PHP, WordPress, and the Elementor page builder as an intern. This internship presents an opportunity to obtain practical expertise in web development, with a focus on PHP programming, WordPress backend features, and customizations made with Elementor. You will gain invaluable knowledge about the field of web development and improve your WordPress skills through this internship.

The following list of typical responsibilities you will take on is indicative, not exhaustive. You’ll have a reasonable workload that can assure high-quality results.
WordPress Backend Development
  • Collaborate with the development team to understand project requirements and objectives
  • Assist in developing and customizing WordPress themes and templates using Elementor page builder
  • Implement backend functionalities using PHP to enhance the functionality and interactivity of websites
  • Integrate third-party plugins and APIs to extend the capabilities of WordPress websites
  • Optimize website performance, security, and database management using best practices
  • Collaborate with the design team to ensure consistent branding and visual aesthetics across websites
  • Conduct testing and debugging to ensure proper functionality and responsiveness across different devices and browsers
  • Assist in content management, including creating and managing custom post types, taxonomies, and custom fields
  • Contribute to documentation and knowledge sharing within the development team
Qualifications and Skills
Mandatory
To qualify to enter the selection process for this job, you must meet the following minimum criteria. Please DO NOT apply if you do not meet these criteria:
  • Graduate in any related field
  • Familiarity with WordPress, including backend development, theme customization, and plugin integration
  • Proficiency in PHP and understanding of object-oriented programming (OOP) concepts
  • Knowledge of MySQL or other relational databases
  • Basic knowledge of search engine optimization (SEO) principles
  • Must have good knowledge and experience with WooCommerce and Elementor plugin
Preferred
If you have the following skills/competence, you’ll have a competitive advantage in our selection process compared to others:
  • Familiarity with design tools like Adobe Photoshop or Illustrator and Adobe XD or Figma
  • Certification in WordPress Web Development, Back-end
